Artist Statement:: “Suzanne Surina Baur has been a clay artist for many years, creating both functional work and sculptural work. With a deep love of the outdoors and all things “nature”, she looks to the natural world for inspiration. She often uses real leaves to imprint on her pottery, capturing a moment in time. As an avid scuba diver for over 50 years, the ocean and beaches are a priority for her. You will find shells, fish, turtles, and more decorating her work. Her sculptural work is sometimes realistic: children reading, on the beach, or at play. But she also enjoys humor and creates fun animal sculptures with human characteristics. She believes buying art, whether it is a simple mug or a beautiful sculpture,
enhances our everyday lives.”
